The Mecha System
Front Mission in a Discord channel: pilot a wanzer built from four destructible parts, spend Action Points instead of taking free turns, and win by dismantling the enemy machine one limb at a time.
A different fight, again
Like Pokemax, mechas share nothing with normal combat — no STR/AGI/CON, no Focus, no gear. A wanzer is four separate parts, each with its own HP and armor: body, left arm, right arm, legs. You do not have one health bar; you have four, and the fight is about which one breaks first.
| Break this part | And… |
|---|---|
| An arm | The weapon it holds goes offline. Disarm the enemy by shooting the arm, not the body. |
| The legs | Evasion collapses — every shot after that lands far more often. |
| The body | The wanzer is destroyed. This is the kill, but it is usually the best-armored part. |
You rarely win by going for the body. You win by crippling — take the arms so it cannot shoot back, take the legs so it cannot dodge, then finish at your leisure. A mecha with both arms gone is a loss waiting to happen, even at full body HP.
The loop
1 — Open the portal at Cape Greyveil. Mechas are the one system that asks you to have played everything else first — the toll is materials from all over Valestia.
2 — Build a wanzer from a body, two arms and legs, staying under your weight budget.
3 — Hang two weapons, one per arm, and pack two backpack items.
4 — Fight by spending Action Points: cripple the enemy frame part by part.
5 — Win to earn Pilot XP, which raises your rank and unlocks higher Marks of parts to build.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Parts per wanzer | 4 — body, 2 arms, legs, each destructible |
| Marks (upgrade tiers) | Mk1 → Mk5 |
| Weapons equipped | 2 — one per arm |
| Backpack slots | 2 |
| Turn actions | Fire · Guard · Rest · Consumable |
