Jadewind — Current & mastery
Turn damage stopped by Parry into Current, then spend it on attacks or shields.
Jadewind is a special character: unlock costs 75,000 OIL. It is separate from the 11 starters and cannot be chosen as your first free starter.
The loop is simple: Parry to store Current → Attack to discharge it, or Rest to make a shield once stage 3 is unlocked. Current starts at zero each fight. Merely choosing Parry grants nothing: you must actually stop an enemy’s primary attack.
Six stages, explained with examples
Stage 1 · Included with unlock
Receive the wind · Current is your energy reserve for this battle. Parry stores 30% of enemy damage stopped, up to 60 points: blocking 100 generates 30. Your next basic attack automatically discharges it as extra damage, subject to defenses. The extra cannot exceed 100% of that attack’s base damage, without Focus or criticals; keep any excess Current. At this stage, a dodge loses only the points committed to that discharge.
Stage 2 · 15,000 OIL
Deep breath · Parry now stores 40% of the damage stopped, and the reserve cap rises from 60 to 100. Blocking 100 generates 40 Current. If the enemy dodges your discharge, keep the entire reserve for another attempt. An attack blocked by Parry still counts as a hit and spends Current, even if it deals no HP damage.
Stage 3 · 45,000 OIL
Change the course · Choose Rest (REST) to automatically convert all your Current into a shield for yourself, at 1 shield point per point spent. With 80 Current, gain an 80-point shield. It absorbs damage; it does not restore HP. It lasts until the end of the next round unless depleted first. If REST is interrupted, gain no shield and spend no Current.
Stage 4 · 40,000 OIL
Continuous current · REST spends 75% of the reserve, rounded up. Attacks spend at most that 75%, also capped at 100% of the attack’s base damage. With 80 Current and 30 base damage, spend 30 and keep 50; if dodged, keep all 80. Offensive weapon actives can also discharge, only on their first primary hit. Additional hits do not repeat the bonus.
Stage 5 · 110,000 OIL
A · Cutting gale: maximum reserve 140. A connected discharge prepares an automatic gust against the same enemy, after your action next round. Its base damage is 30% of Current spent, rounded down; it is not based on damage dealt. It can be dodged or blocked.
B · Sheltering breeze: maximum reserve 140. The REST shield gains +25%: spending 60 produces 75 shield. It goes to you by default; use the Class panel to give the whole shield to a living, active ally instead. Save your choice and use REST; this is not an extra action.
Stage 6 · 60,000 OIL
Wind mastery · A: maximum reserve 180; the gust rises to 50% of Current actually spent. With 160 reserve and at least 120 base damage, spend 120, keep 40 and prepare a 60-damage gust before defenses. With 50 base damage, spend 50, keep 110 and the gust is 25. B: maximum reserve 180; keeps the +25% shield bonus and allows a 50/50 or 75/25 split between you and an ally. Choose who gets the 75%. With 160, REST spends 120, keeps 40 and creates 150 total shield: 75/75 or 112/38. You may still give it all to one person.
The mastery upgrades cost 270,000 OIL; including the character unlock, the total is 345,000 OIL. At stage 5, branch A or B is permanent. Read the current confirmation before purchasing.
Avoid these common mistakes
Current is not Focus and a shield is not healing. Shield absorption, reflected damage and secondary hits do not generate Current. The discharge bonus is limited by the attack’s base damage before Focus and criticals. A fully parried attack still spends its committed Current; from stage 2, a dodge preserves it. If Rest is interrupted, you do not spend Current or gain its shield.
