The Greyveil Portal
Mechas are gated behind Cape Greyveil. Opening the portal is a deliberate endgame commitment — a haul of materials from the whole map, then a duel.
Cape Greyveil
Cape Greyveil has no enemies and no hunting — the only thing there is the Mecha Portal. You reach the Cape from Stormbay Docks with !travel. It is a portal region, not a place you fight in.
The toll
Opening the portal costs materials from all over Valestia, then a fight:
| The portal toll | Amount |
|---|---|
| Every region signature material | ×5 of each of the 10 |
| Rare materials | ×10 each — Temporal Gear, Obsidian Alloy, War Emblem Fragment, Null Coil |
| Oil | 30,000 |
| Lyra's initiation | A mecha duel you have to win |
The signature materials come from !hunt in each region, so the portal is a reason to have travelled the whole map. It is the one system that asks you to have played everything else first.
Lyra's initiation
Lyra lends you a wanzer for the initiation — and lets you keep it when you win. A Mk1 Striker frame with a Machinegun and a Rifle, a Repair Kit and an AP Cell in the backpack. Passing pays back 20,000 Oil and the Pilot role. You are not building your first mecha from nothing; you are earning your way into the hangar.
That starter frame is a Striker — the balanced all-rounder — so your first duel is fought on even, forgiving footing before you start specialising. Once you own it, the hangar is open.
